Flight over the Sierras
Winding river cuts through the the mountain tops of the High Sierras
Up in the plane, I had no idea what to expect. Having only flown in jets with a limited view of my surroundings, I knew this would be different. A once in a lifetime moment.
Our reason for the flight was to view Firefall. My friends and I had wanted to see it, but then we decided to fly over would be an even better way to get a glimpse of the annual event.
We took off before the sun began to set. We knew it would take a bit to get over to El Capitan and we couldn’t miss when the sun hit horsetail falls. Flying over the valley was magical. We saw both sides of Half Dome. The Cathedral Peaks. Lots more that I probably forgot the names of.
